Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of businesses can join?

We welcome a wide range of private sector players involved in tourism, including accommodation, experiences, dining, transportation, guides, and retail, as well as farmers, creators, and community development companies who wish to transform local resources into tourism value. There are no restrictions on region or industry. To maintain the quality of our community, an interview with the secretariat is required before joining.

What is the membership fee? What about mid-year enrollment?

For regular members (business members), the fee is JPY 10,000 / month (excl. tax; JPY 11,000 incl. tax). With annual payment it is JPY 110,000 / year (excl. tax; JPY 121,000 incl. tax), which is JPY 11,000 (incl. tax) cheaper than twelve monthly payments. The membership contract renews automatically each year, and the total payable over one year is JPY 132,000 (incl. tax) on the monthly plan and JPY 121,000 (incl. tax) on the annual plan. If you do not wish to renew, please notify us by one month before the expiry date. You may give notice of withdrawal at any time, and you will still be able to take part until the expiry date (for details, please see Articles 5, 7 and 12 of the Membership Terms). Details regarding mid-year enrollment will be provided during the interview. For sponsor plans (starting from JPY 300,000), please refer to our Sponsor Guide.

Can I join even if I don't have any tourism content yet?

Yes, absolutely. In fact, this community is especially for those who have valuable local resources but haven't yet commercialized them. Our experts will support you every step of the way, from inventorying resources to designing experiences.

Are there additional fees for being featured on member pages?

No, there are no additional fees. Inclusion in Member Stories and the Experience Catalog (multilingual, initially expanding from Japanese and English) and translation costs are included in the membership fee. Updates to published information are accepted at any time, in addition to an annual mass update.

Can I do business with overseas travel companies even if I don't speak foreign languages?

Yes, you can. The Kachisai secretariat will support you through interpretation during business negotiations, document translation, terms negotiation, and contracting. We also assist in preparing necessary multilingual tools (e.g., point-and-speak phrase sheets) for welcoming guests.

How often are activities held? Can I participate from a remote location?

Regular meetings and study sessions are generally scheduled online about three times a month. On-site events such as business matching sessions and FAM tours will be announced as they occur. Participation is optional, and you can join from anywhere in the country.

I am a local government/DMO. Can I participate?

Regular membership is intended for private businesses; however, DMOs and tourism associations that offer their own travel products are welcome to join as members. With local governments and DMOs that do not hold travel products, we collaborate through broad-area partnerships, co-hosted events, and similar arrangements. Please contact us first.

What should I do if I want to withdraw my membership?

You may notify the secretariat at any time using the prescribed method. Once you do, your agreement ends on the expiry date of the contract term and is not automatically renewed. Even after giving notice, you remain a member and can continue to take part in all Programs until the expiry date of the contract term — you receive the full service for the period you have paid for. Because membership fees are consideration corresponding to the contract term, fees already paid are not refunded. Members on the monthly plan pay through the final month of the term; members on the annual plan owe no additional payment. If you give notice within 14 days of enrollment, your agreement is terminated at that point and we refund the full amount you have paid (we cover the bank transfer fees). For details, please see Article 12 of the Membership Terms.
